Dr. Oeurng Chantha was invited as a Visiting Professor to Hokkaido University, Japan
A senior researcher and deputy head of Rural Engineering Department of ITC, Dr. Oeurng Chantha spent almost two weeks (01-10 September 2016) at Japan for the the Visiting Professor program arranged by Hokkaido University. On this special occasion, Dr. Oeurng gave special lecture on Integrated Watershed Management for 3S rivers case (Sekong, Sesan & Srepok) of the Mekong Basin to the international class of master students coming from several countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Bhutan, Nepal, China, and Cambodia. The lectures coverage both technical and social aspects which illustrated a good example, exact methods and applicable strategic that can be use to manage river basin not only just for Mekong River but also for other river tributaries. Beside in class activities, Dr. Oeurng was also invited to visit some rural infrastructures in surrounding Hokkaido Island such as spillway, canals and drainage system.




It is remake that, Dr. Oeurng graduated from Rural Engineering Department of ITC. His Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences and Biological Engineering, Faculté Universitaire des Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux, Belgium. He has received a Ph.D. in Hydrology, Hydrochemistry, soil and environment from the University of Toulouse, France and his Postdoctoral degree at University of Canterbury, NZ.
Due to his working experiences and the numerous of publication related to hydrology, sediment transport as well as irrigation water management, Dr. Oeurng became well known and distinguish as a capable human resource in Cambodia in field of Engineering.
